Background First built in 1863, The Duke of Cornwall Hotel is one of the few buildings that survived World War 2 in Plymouth has remained a focal point of Plymouth's landscape. One of the major hotels in the city, it draws many of the main conferences and events for the area and with 72 rooms that are as eclectic as the hotel itself; it delivers superb accommodation for business and leisure travellers to the area. A superbly run facility, the hotel is a significant employer and invests time and energy in the city where ever it can. It has been recognised locally and nationally in their persuit of excellence. The Relationship With the Duke, we have worked very closely with the executive board, after a their realisation of a gap in their marketing expertise in the business. After this first year, we have now built confidence within their business at a time that is very tough for the hotel sector, we expect this to be a very long relationship and know we have given their management team the confidence to plan for the future growth. | |

The Brief The brief from the Duke was to simply help them to gain back marketshare that they have progressively lost over a period of time via a currently poor marketing initiative. Against a backdrop of excellent service and good return business, our brief was simply to make sure that the hotel was reintroduced to new contacts and the visibility raised to drive in new enquiries and booking across their range of propositions. | |

The Solution we approached this project with an assessment of their current position and quickly decided that reasonably clean slate needed to be started, as they had fallen behind considerably. We decided to relaunch the brand with new graphics and a new message across all their marketing collateral. To this end, we managed the process of redefining the brand and their core values, and then translating that to a new website and printed collateral. The digital marketing campaign was then deployed across a range of Search and sector specific channels to give the Duke the sought after visibility. | |

The Results The results have been remarkable, the site previously created very little in bookings and within two months the project had paid for itself, having increased their wedding business for the following year by 300% and providing an excellent platform to communicate the quality of their accommodation and conferencing facilities. The expansion of the campaign with direct booking parnet Booking.com is now proving successful and with our expertise the hotel is trading well against a very hard background. | |
